Yesterday, SHS FBLA members attended an event at Bryant University to learn about opportunities that Bryant can provide for their students, advice from a panel of current Bryant students, got a tour of campus, and enjoyed lunch with professors from their work field of choice!

This weekend, female SHS FBLA members were able to attend Harvard University's High School Business Oriented Leadership Development (BOLD) conference for female high school students. At the conference, they listened to female CEOs and business founders speak about how they founded their businesses and learned about how these leaders got to where they are. Our members had an amazing time and met many influential business founders and leaders from companies such as Tower 28, Poppi, and Graybar!

Rhode Island FBLA 2024 SFLC!! Today SHS FBLA members had the privilege of going to workshops by Edward Jones, PrepareRI, JWU School of Hospitality, JWU School of Sports, Entertainment, and Event Management, and our wonderful state officers, and then ended the day with a keynote speech from Megan Grady at Meals on Wheels RI!

Update: We raised $5,430 for the SHS FBLA chapter and sold 690 dozen! Thank you to everyone who participated!

On October 11, 2024, a few members of SHS FBLA attended an event held at Bryant University. During this event, members had to create a company to compete with the company given to their group, and then got a tour of the Bryant University campus and got to see the new Business Entrepreneurship Leadership Center (BELC)!

On May 23, 2024, SHS FBLA hosted an end of the year breakfast for our members. At the breakfast, we congratulated our seniors and enjoyed breakfast together.

On Friday, April 12, 2024, SHS FBLA and the Smithfield Music Department are partnering up to do the Sentinel Palooza at the Portuguese-American Social Club in Smithfield. At this event, food will be served, and SHS Students will be performing. This will take place on April 12th, 2024, from 6pm to 9pm. Tickets are $10 per person, and are on sale on eventbrite.com, and at the door.

On March 26, 2024, the SHS FBLA chapter went on a field trip to Fidelity Investments Corporate Offices to take a tour of the campus and hear from employees' experiences at Fidelity.

On February 14, 2024, the SHS FBLA chapter went to the RI FBLA 2024 State Leadership Summit. At this event, members got to enjoy breakfast, hear from membership chairs from the national FBLA level, and got to hear speeches our chapter President , Ava Brule, and our chapter Reporter, Madeline Clapprood.

On January 23rd, the SHS FBLA chapter was privileged to attended the Johnson and Wales University Business Dining Etiquette Luncheon. During this event, members receive a tour of the Johnson and Wales University Providence campus. They then attend Professor Michael Sabitoni’s business dining etiquette luncheon seminar. In this seminar, members were taught how to have a formal business lunch with proper etiquette.

This past weekend, our Chapter President, Ava Brule, attended the FBLA National Fall Leadership Conference in Providence, Rhode Island. As representatives of the host state, she and the Rhode Island FBLA Officer Team helped to host workshops led by business professionals from around the nation. They also led their own workshop that FBLA members from around the United States could attend. It was a truly invaluable experience that Ava will definitely use to help continually develop the FBLA program at Smithfield High School.

On Friday, October 20, 2023, 39 SHS FBLA members attended RI FBLA's State Fall Leadership Conference at Johnson & Wales University. At the conference, members learned how to build resumes, prepare and do well on interviews, successfully manage the SHS FBLA chapter, and more!

The SHS FBLA Chapter is hosting a "Hats for Hunger" fundraiser for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. The Rhode Island Community Food Bank helps to serve more than 63,000 Rhode Islanders per month through food pantries and meal sites. All proceeds from this fundraiser go to help people in Rhode Island who are food insecure. Donations are accepted until Friday October 13th. All students at Smithfield High School are encouraged to wear a hat on October 13th in support of ending hunger.
Update: We raised $555.04 for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank from this fundraiser! Thank you to everyone who participated!

This month, FBLA ran a fundraiser with Krispy Kreme. We raised $1,054 for funding the activities and conferences we participate in outside of school. Thank you to everyone who donated and purchased donuts to help support FBLA.

The Smithfield FBLA chapter officers went to Johnson and Wales University for the 2023 State Leadership Summit! Here, officers were able to network with officers from other schools, listen to guest speakers, learn how to prepare for their upcoming competitive events, and learn more about the Rhode Island state FBLA officer positions. It was a very enjoyable day, and we cannot wait until our upcoming State Leadership Conference in March!

The Smithfield FBLA chapter went to Johnson and Wales University for the 2022 State Fall Leadership Conference! At this conference chapter officers were able to be get training from the Rhode Island State FBLA officers. There were also business seminars for our other chapter members to participate in. We all learned a lot from this experience, and most importantly, had fun!
